I can't pinpoint exactly when my fascination with Mid-Century Modern architecture began, but it likely started in my childhood, long before I even knew the term. I vividly recall my grandmother's sprawling ranch home in Hinckley, OH, and one feature that always amazed me was a stove that slid in and out of the wall—it was the coolest thing ever!
During my college years, my interest in architecture became more serious and intentional. I was drawn to the distinctive lines and edges, the dramatic interplay of light and shadows, and even the historic curves found in Cleveland, OH. I have been photographing architecture for over 30 years, always with a keen eye for the clean, crisp lines that characterize the urban landscape. This lifelong fascination naturally led me to explore and photograph Mid-Century Modern architecture, a style that resonates with my personal aesthetic.
Fortunately, I had the opportunity to live in a Mid-Century Modern home in the Paradise Palms neighborhood of Las Vegas, NV—a place that truly lived up to its name, "paradise." After moving, I spent time in the Racquet Club Estates in Palm Springs, CA, another community with similar architectural charm. Each morning, I would wander through these neighborhoods with my camera, capturing the essence of their beauty and sharing these images on my social media feeds. Last December, I decided to delve deeper into this project and began making prints to fully immerse myself in the experience. This collection marks the beginning of an ongoing series, a tribute to the timeless allure of Mid-Century Modern design.
